YSL Cinema Perfume Description by YSL: “Glamorous, Seductive, Startling. Cinema, a floral sophisticated and original enough for a starring role. Morning blooms open in a fresh accord, shimmering with cyclamen, almond and clementine. Middle Notes of amaryllis and Sambac Jasmine then lead the way to depth and mystery, where amber, white musk and vanilla take a brilliant turn. Set-lighting-inspired crystal flacon with gold stopper.”
Notes as given on Fragrantica:
Top Notes: Clementine, Cyclamen, Almond blossom
Heart Notes: Peony, Amaryllis, Jasmine
Base Notes: Amber, Benzoin, Musk, Vanilla
YSL Cinema is created by Jacques Cavallier, one of my favourite perfumers of all times, who has created some of the gems like Dior Midnight Poison, YSL Elle, Issey Miyake Leau D’issey, CK Eternity moments, Bvlgari Aqua, Nina by Nina Ricci, Jean Paul Gaultier Classique etc. His fragrances usually have a quality about them, wherein the scent does not become too boring or too linear at any time, and keeps showing an interesting facet.
My Review of YSL Cinema
One of the most complimented fragrances in my collection. If I have to describe this gorgeous perfume in one word, it would be ‘Sparkling’. It just instantly uplifts you, it excites & it calms. The sweet vanilla & nutty almonds make a combination worth drooling for. The floral opening of Cinema soon settles into a calming vanilla gourmand flavour, which stays with you for the rest of the day. When I feel it’s all but gone, I again catch a mouth-watering whiff of this gem. If I had to wear just one perfume daily, through winters and summers, through day and night, YSL Cinema might be the one. It is calming enough to take you through the hot summer days, and at the same time glamorous enough for those cold winter nights. This is marketed mainly as a glamorous scent, but it is more of a comforting one for me, and not a mystery at all, it is like a known and cherished presence. This perfume is a true beauty, in a fitting bottle, which would become the centre of attraction on your dresser.
This is the first perfume which made me crazy for it. The assistant at a Parcos store told me the perfume is discontinued, and in frenzy, I collected as many bottles of this precious liquid as I could. Am already done with almost 2 bottles of this beauty, and 2 more are left to relish. I don’t wear YSL Cinema as often now, as I do have many more options, but still enjoy it just as much.
The perfume is hard to find in the stores now, but it keeps making appearances on the online stores at discounted prices. Hoard it while you can.
Will I recommend it: Hell Yes!!
Retail Price: INR 4950 for 50 ml, and have not seen a larger bottle around for long, so cannot comment on the full bottle price
