The mystery of Dior’s legendary forbidden fruit lives on in a magical, modern philter that blends femininity with boldness. Four contrasting facets – intoxicating bitter almond and carvi, opulent Sambac jasmine, mysterious Jacarandra and sensuous vanilla and musk – make for a compelling, bewitching fragrance fusion. Intoxicating and extravagant.
The top notes are that of Apricot, Plum and Coconut, middle notes of Tuberose, Jasmine, Lily-of-the-valley, Rose, Brazilian Rosewood, and Caraway, and base notes of Sandalwood, Almonds, Vanilla and Musk.
My Review of Dior Hypnotic Poison
Hypnotic Poison!!! This indeed is hypnotic, with this in a room, no one will notice anything else being worn. It is the queen of all gourmands, sweet and nutty. The Almonds add to the sweetish delight of the vanilla, making for a crave worthy scent.
The opening is extremely sweet, juicy Plum with vanilla and Coconut. This is so STRONG. It borderlines on being sickly sweet, and it unimaginably strong, something which is not seen in any modern day perfume. A single spray to my wrist, and all anyone around me could smell was HYPNOTIC POISON. Am a stinker for strong fragrances as my skin just eats perfumes, but a single spray of it proved too much for me as well. The sillage is monstrous, simply amazing.
Hypnotic Poison tones down a bit after 2-3 hours, and becomes delightful, creamy nutty vanilla, the Almonds in it is just delicious. I love Almonds in a perfume, and in hypnotic poison, the vanilla almond combination is drool worthy. The fragrance changes again in a few hours, and becomes soft powdery vanilla, almost like a vanilla scented baby powder. This stage just lasts and lasts. I could still smell it on my wrist the next day, and not as a skin scent. It retained some sillage even after 20hr+. My jacket still retains the powdery sweet smell of it, and that is only from what might have rubbed off on it from my wrist, no direct spraying. This stuff is potent!!!
Hypnotic poison is amazing, sweet, long lasting with enormous sillage. No modern perfume can stand in comparison to it when it comes to lasting power and sillage. Bottle is quite good-looking as well, and retains the shape of the whole Poison series, it is dull red with black cap.
Will I recommend it? This is not for me, the opening is too sweet for me, but the base is delicious. If you like sweet gourmands, do go for it. This stuff is pricey, around INR 9500 for the 100 ml bottle, but a single spray is more than enough, so its going to last you a very long time.
